We are a very friendly club with over 90 members. This year we celebrate our Emerald Anniversary – 55 years!
New members and visitors are warmly welcomed to our meetings, which begin at 2.15pm, in the Colston Hall at the Memorial Centre on the third Wednesday of each month. The meetings usually begin with a demonstration from National and Area Demonstrators who visit us from all over the country.
We also have a competition for members, divided into Novices, Intermediate, Advanced and Advanced Plus sections, which is staged between 1.30 and 2pm and is usually judged by the Demonstrator prior to the start of the meeting.
We organise day schools to help members improve their skills, and in the summer months we have occasional outings to places of interest for lovers of flowers. We have several social events during the year. We keep members up to date through ‘Flower Power’ our monthly newsletter.
Some of our members have taken City & Guilds courses in flower arranging and have become active in local and national shows.
The club is affiliated to the Berks, Bucks and Oxon area of NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies) and members have been involved in fund-raising for local charities. We also take part in local events such as the National Flower Arranging Day.
In addition, we operate a weekly rota for our members to arrange flowers in the outpatients department of the Gerrards Cross and Chalfont Hospital.
